Big up to Beatport

For those of you who don’t know what Beatport is: Beatport is an American electronic music-oriented online store, selling full songs and resources that can be used for remixes by DJs. They have taken it upon themselves to bring a bit of joy back into our lives with music.

For the second time last weekend, Beatport launched their livestream fundraiser ReConnect after the first edition proved to be immensely successful.

“With so many of us sheltered in our homes, wanting to stay connected to the people and music that plays such a positive role in our lives, Beatport and the passionate DJ community we work with on a daily basis feel compelled to deliver a unique music experience directly into homes across the world
 – Beatport’s CEO, Robb McDaniels

First edition

The first edition of the global music series was 24 hours long and had some of the best DJs of the electronic scene perform live from their homes, with big names such as Carl Cox, Rüfüs du Sol, Nora en Pure, and ANNA performing some top tier sets.

The fundraiser amassed a staggering 11 million views and raised $185,000 for COVID-19 relief efforts. Check out the Youtube video below for the entire playlist of the first edition, with Carl Cox kicking it off from his home in Melbourne!

Second edition

The second edition took place last weekend, starting on April 17th, lasting for 36 hours with 36 DJs in 36 different locations. This edition moved away from a mostly techno based DJ repertoire and included names such as Tiesto, Kaskade, Boys Noize, and David Guetta under his alias Jack Back.

We here at KALAB just wanted to share this little bit of happiness with you and hope this fills your house with the dance floor vibes we all so greatly miss!
